The 4th European Conference on Mental Health was held in Riga, Latvia. The amount of participants increased to 364 and we had conference delegates from 42 different countries all over the world. Our participant Tonje Lossius Husum from Norway shares her memories of Riga and ECMH conferences: “I think I have participated in at least five of the ECMH conferences since the beginning. I have chosen to continue to go to the ECMH conferences for many reasons. Among them is that I think the scientific program are very updated and present new developments in mental health care, especially in the community setting. I also much appreciated the multi-professionality of the participates on the conferences. Mental health is a multi-professional discipline, and I think this should be reflected on conferences, as the ECMH conferences do. My research subject are use of coercive practices and ethics in general in mental health services. I also use to find these topics well represented in the program. I love that the conference is based on the values: Equality, friendliness, trustworthiness & JOY!  I have experienced that the conference organizers bring joy to the conference, and that the social arrangements are of high quality and very good. Last, I will mention that I appreciate that the ECMH conference aims at being ‘evidence based’, and with this stimulate for new and much needed pratice and research developments in the field of mental health services.

I remember nice city walks in the nice old city of Riga, and nice conference dinner and skyline bar 🙂 And of course the happy Finnish guys! With good party stamina…”  Thank you Tonje for sharing your thoughts and memories!
